About me

Hi! My name is Sarah, and I'm the founder of Pets Ahoy Plymouth.

I've always adored animals and grew up with a cheeky border terrier, which is where my love for the breed began! Since his passing in 2019, I decided to start caring for other people’s pets. I've accumulated over 9 years of experience in the animal industry, ranging from working in kennels, to doggy day care and assisting in dog training classes with Dogs Trust and Puppy School, where I have met so many dog personalities.

I started pet sitting and dog walking in 2021, and have since built up a steady client base during this time, with many of you needing regular walks or drop-ins during the busy work day, or someone to keep your pets company while you're out of town.

 

Through my experience, I've spent time with nervous, elderly and disabled pets and I am fully capable of tailoring my services to best suit your pet’s needs.

My qualifications include a BSc Degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare, Pet First Aid, and I am Fear Free Certified, showing my ongoing commitment to never using any tools or methods rooted in fear, pain, or punishment with your pets. Promoting high standards of animal welfare is core to my philosophy, and I only use the most recent, science-backed and peer-reviewed methods of training.

I am also insured with Pet Business Insurance and have a DBS check, which can be viewed upon request.

In addition to pet sitting and dog walking, I am also the associate tutor for Puppy School Plymouth, one of the UK's leading puppy training providers. Through this training, we deliver reward-based classes for puppies up to 20 weeks of age. I started teaching puppy classes on my own in December 2023, and also take on 1-2-1 clients, covering the basics such as loose-lead walking, recall, toilet training, etc.
